Damian Nixon

I am a certified recovery and behavioural health coach. I work in private practice and alongside clinical teams at private clinics, treatment centres and case management groups in the UK, Europe and the US.

I’ve had a rich, varied career spanning business intelligence, international finance, the art market and high pressure start ups. I’ve been lucky to live, work and travel in countries across Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia. Yet I also know how the pursuit of pleasure, property or prestige can mask deep-seated anxieties and internal conflicts; as our lives progress there comes a reckoning with the consequences of earlier decisions we made or avoided.

As a man in my forties, I feel atuned to men and women approaching mid-life with a sense that they cannot go on as they are. I have experienced what it’s like to start again and to feel overwhelemed by what’s at stake - friendships, relationships, family, money, career and identity. I also know it is never too late, or too early, to begin the process of change, one day at a time.

As a gay man, my journey from fear and shame towards self-discovery, acceptance and the possibility of love has been a continuous unfolding. I work with other gay and queer people individually and in groups in search of a healthier and more authentic relationship with themselves, their community and society, free from shame and self-destructive attempts at ‘fitting in’.

My practice is influenced by humanistic and existential psychology, which means I have an unshakabe belief in your right - and your ability - to create your own meaning and discover your own purpose in life. Whoever you are, and wherever you are starting from, today’s the day…

The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are.
